Georgia PTA divides Georgia into 13 PTA Districts in order to establish a closer working
relationship with councils and local units.  A District Director serves as a liaison from
Georgia PTA Board of Directors and works with the local PTAs in geographical areas of
the state.  The Executive Committee of the district consists of the District Director and
elected district officers and appointed Parliamentarian.  The district board consists of the
District Executive Committee, committee chairpersons, council presidents and members
of the state PTA board of directors residing within the district.

District 12 includes:

Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Franklin, Gwinnett, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Jackson,
Lumpkin, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union,
Walton and White counties.

Take PTA Leadership to a New Level.....

Congratulations!  Your local PTA is doing wonderful work!  Or maybe not.  Maybe
your PTA needs a whole new direction to be more effective for students, parents
and the wider school community.  What do these two PTAs have in common?  The
need for strong PTA council leadership.

Your council leaders give support, training and hands-on help for all its PTAs:  from
the most successful to those that struggle; from elementary through high school.
Council leaders help local PTAs find, understand and use PTA resources.  The
council is a clearinghouse for great ideas that can work in lots of schools, and for
issues or needs that affect several schools.  Most importantly, council leaders
provide a crucial multi-school perspective to key decision makers in your
community and school district.

Are you ready to take your hard-earned organizational skills to the next level?  Do
you have ideas and energy that can help students beyond your child’s schoolyard?
Are you willing to work with and learn from other talented and dedicated PTA
leaders throughout your area?  Then it’s time for you to join the leadership of your
PTA council.

The Gwinnett Council of PTAs, Area 3 is looking for candidates for president, vice
president, secretary and treasurer for the 2010-2011 school year.  Check out the
call for nomination for more details about each job.  Area 3 covers all schools in
the Archer, Berkmar, Central, Dacula, Grayson and Mill Creek clusters.  We seek
candidates who represent the broad diversity of our communities.  Previous PTA
or other community organization leadership experience is helpful, but know that
Georgia PTA and National PTA provide excellent training and skill-building
opportunities and support for incoming council leaders.

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please complete the
nomination form and return it to Rebecca Branstetter, Area 3 Nominating
Committee Chair, at
RebeccaArea3@gwinnettpta.org by February 26, 2010.  We
look forward to hearing from you!
