Emerging Minority Leadership Conference
October 17 - 18

The Emerging Minority Leaders Conference was created to recognize and reinforce the importance of minority
leaders in PTA's future growth in Georgia.  Presenters include PTA National President Jan Domene; Dr. Karen
Dade, Spelman College; Dr. Thomas Lockamy, Superintendent of Savannah Chatham Public Schools; and Dr.
Norman Thomas, Past President of Georgia PTA.

Healthy Habits Grant Recipients

Georgia PTA, with the support of the Georgia Department of Education, has created a funding opportunity to encourage local
units and councils to implement programs focusing on the promotion of healthy eating habits and increasing physical activity.

Congratulations to the following units from District 12 that were awarded the 2008-2009 Promoting Healthy Habits Grant:
